Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 July 2026
Talksum ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Talksum mobile and web application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information we collect
Google account data. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and display name from Google OAuth. We use these solely to identify your account.
Financial data. The App stores the expense and income transactions you log — amounts, dates, categories, notes, and any other details you enter. Your transaction data is stored on your device. Free accounts are local-only: we do not hold a copy of your transactions on our servers unless you enable sync, which is a paid feature.
Voice and AI processing. When you use voice input, your speech is transcribed on your device. The resulting text — along with the transaction records needed for context — is sent to Groq, LLC, a third-party AI processor based in the United States, to parse transactions and generate spending insights. By using voice input or AI-powered features, you consent to this transfer. Groq's privacy policy is available at https://groq.com/privacy-policy.
Crash reports. When the App crashes, we send the technical details of the failure to Sentry, a third-party error-monitoring service based in the United States. A report contains the error, where it occurred in our code, and the error's own description — which can occasionally contain a fragment of what you had just entered, because that fragment is often what caused the error. Reports never contain your transaction history, your voice recordings, or your name or email. This is on by default; you can turn it off at the bottom of the Privacy screen in the App.
2. How we use your data
We use collected data to:
- Provide and improve the App's core expense-tracking features.
- Generate AI-powered spending insights.
- Maintain your account, meter free AI usage, and sync data across your devices if you have enabled sync.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
3. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Transaction data stored locally on your device persists until you delete the App or your account. Data held on our servers is deleted permanently when you delete your account (see Section 5).
4. Third-party services
- Google Sign-In — subject to Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
- Groq, LLC — AI processing of transaction text and voice transcripts; based in the United States.
- Sentry — crash and error reports (technical details only, no financial data); based in the United States. https://sentry.io/privacy/
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting and delivery of our API.
5. Deleting your account and data
To delete your account and all associated data permanently:
- Open the App.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap "Delete account".
This action is irreversible. All your transaction records and account data will be permanently removed from our servers, and the App's local copy on that device is erased.
6. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Contact
If you have questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, contact us at:
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the App. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
