Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the Talksum mobile and web application (the "App"), operated by Talksum ("we", "our", or "us"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. What the App does
Talksum is a personal expense tracker. You log spending by voice or by typing it in, and the App organises it, shows you totals and trends, and points out patterns in your own numbers.
2. The App is not financial advice
This is the most important thing on this page. Talksum describes what your money did. It does not tell you what to do with your money.
Nothing in the App — including any insight, projection, forecast, budget status, or AI-generated summary — is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, and none of it should be relied on as such. Projections are arithmetic on your own past entries, not predictions. Decisions you make about your money are yours alone. If you need advice, consult a qualified professional.
3. Your account
You need an account to use the App. Sign-in is via Google; you are responsible for keeping access to that Google account secure, and for everything done through your Talksum account.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the App, and old enough to enter a binding contract where you live.
You may delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion is irreversible — see the Privacy Policy, Section 5.
4. Your data is yours
You keep all rights to the transactions, notes, and other content you enter. We claim no ownership of it.
You grant us only the permission needed to run the service for you: to store your content, to process it in order to show it back to you, and to transmit the text of what you say or type to our AI processor so it can be turned into a transaction. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
Free accounts are stored on your device. We are not a backup service. If you lose, wipe, or replace your device, or delete the App, local data goes with it. Export your data (Settings → Export CSV) if you want a copy you control.
5. AI features and accuracy
The App uses automated systems, including third-party AI models, to interpret what you say and to categorise transactions. These systems get things wrong. Always check what was recorded. We are not responsible for decisions made on the basis of a misheard amount, a wrong category, or an inaccurate insight.
AI features are subject to usage limits, which may change. Some limits reset daily; some are lifted by a paid plan, and some may be lifted by optionally watching an advertisement. Watching an advertisement is always optional.
6. Acceptable use
Do not:
- Use the App for anything unlawful, or to store content you have no right to store.
- Attempt to break, overload, probe, or circumvent the App's security, quotas, metering, or entitlement checks — including automating requests to our API.
- Reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the App, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
- Impersonate anyone, or use another person's account.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these rules.
7. Paid plans
Some features require a paid subscription. Where a paid plan exists, it is sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and their billing terms, renewal rules, and refund policies apply — we do not process your payment and cannot issue a refund on their behalf. Prices and what each tier includes may change; changes do not apply retroactively to a period you have already paid for.
8. Advertising
The free tier may show advertisements. Where advertising is served by a third party, that provider's own privacy terms apply to the data it collects.
9. Availability
We provide the App "as is" and "as available". We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will keep working with any particular device or operating system version. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, and we may stop offering the App entirely — where we can, we will give reasonable notice so you can export your data.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or savings, arising from your use of the App.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will notify you of significant changes via the App. Continued use after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here removes a consumer protection you are entitled to under the law of the country where you live.
